I CANNOT relate to cancer. I CAN relate to recovery and not being able to run. I just found your blog and really enjoyed reading through your past posts! I'm a runner also from MN, way north! Best of Luck with your recovery. You seem like an incredibly strong woman and you'll be back full force in no time!

Glad to hear that you are getting a lot of help. Do what feels right. This is a the perfect time of year to run - so enjoy! Take some pictures bring along some coffee. That is what I plan on doing :)

I'm glad you can get out for some walking again. The books to listen to should be a nice change - I always get really sucked into books on tape. Keep going strong with your recovery!

More power to you Beth.

My opinion, for what it's worth: If it doesn't hurt and you aren't too exhausted, exercise is fine, in fact it's good. As a current cancer patient, on medications, I say listen to your body - if it feels good and you don't think you will hurt yourself, then just do it.

Best possible recovery to you, Don

I like Black Knight's advice - 'Listen to a running doctor.' But most importantly, listen to yourself. I think doctors sometimes get caught up in prescribing the same treatment for everyone, even though their patients run the gamut from completely unfit to completely fit.

Keep working at it, but listen to your body and do what feels right!

I agree: "take what you can get". Yes you have to take it easy without being in hurry, following the doctor's advices but .... I had 2 important experiences. After the operation for my skin cancer the surgeon said: "No workouts to avoid the sun"; a running-dermatologis said: "Don't worry, run when you want but cover yourself with sun-cream and appropriate running items (sunglasses, hat ecc). Moreover, after all the fractures inside my leg, a very famous orthopaedist said: "Don't remove the prothesis (you can see them clicking on the link "running photos" of my blog or going to http://www.flickr.com/photos/12419047@N00/2271940058/) and don't run anymore. I removed the prothesis and I am running again.
So Beth, listen to your doctor but .... listen also a running-doctor. All the best. I am sure that very soon you will be faster and stronger than before.
