Ooops!

Thanks so much to AZ for letting me know that my comment section wasn’t working properly. I missed reading all of your comments and it highlighted to me how much your words of encouragement and advice mean to me. I was worried that I had offended all of you somehow and that you had left me! I’m glad that it was just a site administrative error on my part.

Since last week, springtime has finally arrived in Minnesota. Yeah! There is still some snow on the ground and even snow predicted in the extended forecast, but with temps in the 60’s yesterday, winter has lost it’s grip on us. I could have run in shorts today, but was worried that maybe the wind would make it feel cold. I ended up running in capris and wishing I had been in shorts. I’m bummed that I missed my first “shorts” run, but hopefully I’ll get another shot at in on Wednesday.

This last Saturday, a friend and I decided to join Team Ortho for a group run in South Minneapolis. Team Ortho is the organizer of the half marathon I am doing in June. They have Saturday long runs and we thought we would give it a try. It was a fantastic 9 miles! We ran in a new place to run for me, on lovely trails and sidewalks. They had a couple water stops and a nice size group showed up. I got to see Minnehaha Falls for the first time and it was pretty nifty with beautiful blue ice cascading down the sides. The route is part of the marathon course, but I don’t know if it will be part of my half marathon route. Either way, I’m glad I went.

The rest of my working out time has been devoted to dealing with a flare up of my plantar faciitis instead of swiming and lifting weights, unfortunately. It was bothering me a little bit the last few weeks, and I decided I better address it now before the season gets into full swing. I’m making progress with it, so that is encouraging. I know if it is bothering me while I’m running 20-25 miles a week, running 30-40 miles a week when it comes time to marathon train isn’t going to help the situation. At least the doctor is letting me run while we work on it. I don’t know if I could stay inside now that the sun is out.

Glad you got your technical issue with the comments worked out, Beth! :)

And wow, what a weekend this was! Yesterday was awesome, and today wasn’t too shabby either. Love days like this in March in Minnesota. They are truly a gift!

Hope your plantar faciitis heals up. Take care!

Hi Beth,
Woo hoo, spring is finally arrived in Minnesota!! Yesterday was so gorgeous and I did run in shorts:)

I am so glad to hear that you went on a group run:) They are so fun and it is nice to have some moral support when running those longer distances. It also makes the runs go by faster too:) Minnehaha Falls is one of my favorite places to visit…you have to go in the summer time…it is so beautiful:)

Beth, I hope that you have a wonderful week:)

Yes, I tried commenting on your previous post 4 times…thought it was an issue on my blog. Glad it’s been fixed. You can’t drive me away ha ha!

Hope the plantar fasciitis gets healed soon. I am dealing with a tendonitis issue myself…it’s annoying!

Isn’t this weather the best? I love it! Hope you get the pain issues worked out so you can be back to full on training soon. :)

Rest more now, so you can really enjoy the much better weather to come! At least you can enjoy some small runs.

Oh no Beth! :( Bummer about the foot but I am sure you’ll be back to normal in no time!

Got out in shorts today but was way overdressed on top. Gloves, long sleeved shirt and windbreaker. Too much.

I hope your foot feels better. I know those Strassbord (sp) socks really worked for me. Every once and a while I get a flare up. Enjoy the weather!!

sorry to hear about your foot, but it will get better! I have no doubt.

Welcome to my neighborhood (south Minneapolis; the lakes; the parkway). Love running around there.

You are right, spring feels wonderful. We’ll be doing open water swims in no time.

Ouch, I hope your foot feels better. I’ve had a flare up of planter too and I had it worked on Monday and it feels a lot better! I’m icing it too, for some reason it’s going away despite heavier training right now. Good luck!

Hope you heal quickly! Minnehaha Falls sounds beautiful! Sounds like a great place to run.

Its been amazing out there the past couple of days. I can not wait until it actually stays like this for a bit! My PF has been flaring up lately too. What do you normally do?

I saw this on Runners World: http://www.runnersworld.com/video/1,8052,s6-6-0-2,00.html?bcpid=2884340001&bclid=1352465386&bctid=1258472909

Best wishes for the foot.
Hurrah for the coming of spring!

Hey Beth – sorry to hear about pf – I had it pretty bad for about a year when I was doing road marathons. I found that taping my feet really helped. It’s easy to do – just basic sports tape around your arch – Ann at Startline showed me the first time to do a criss-cross – and then I just figured out what worked best.
