How am I feeling? Good! How is the recovery going? Good! How are the “new girls”? Good!
Good, good, good!
Thanks for all of the well wishes and warm thoughts. It’s been almost two weeks and I couldn’t be better. After a day or two of rest, I have been back to my normal life with the exception of running and lifting anything heavy. I’ve been able to get to the gym on most days where I’ve been spending a lot of time stretching, doing leg exercises, walking on the treadmill and sitting on the spin bike. On days that I don’t make it to the gym, I’ve been watching season 5 of Lost while on the treadmill at home.
If running takes a lot of time, not being able to run takes even more. I find myself spending two hours at the gym and feeling like I haven’t gotten much of a workout. That’s okay, though. My legs are feeling strong and I’m enjoying the break from fighting the snow and cold. My nightly habit of worrying over the weather forecast has fallen by the wayside as it’s always shorts weather inside.
I’m getting really excited about training for the Chisago Half Iron in July. I bought a 20 week training plan from Training Peaks that starts on March 8th. I should be back to my normal workouts on February 15th, so I’ll have almost three weeks to get ready for official training. The first 8 weeks of the training plan are base phase so I should be able to keep up. This is also the time of year to firm up race plans for the season. Right now, the first race on my schedule is the Earth Day Half on April 15th, followed by the Minnetonka Half two weeks after that and the Fargo Half three weeks later.
One more week of goofing off from goofing off!

Glad to hear you are doing well. You seem to have all your training plans figured out already. Impressive.
I never got to season 5 of Lost. I used to watch it on my rowing machine but got a bit bored in season 3. Maybe I ought to revisit.
I am so happy that every thing has gone so well for you! Running will come – in time!
ENJOY your life and live it to the fullest!
I am glad to read the 3 “good”. I like your positive attitude and how you are planning the race season. Moreover it is important what you are doing to stay in shape and to feel always “the smell” of the competition. When I got into the troubles also the dreadmill was a good help. All the best.
Excellent that things are looking good!
I’m looking forward to Fargo. Hotel room booked – downtown near the start of the race. Is Mike running the full or half? I might need a serious pacer to get me to 3:40
Glad everything is going well. I think we will be seeing a lot of each other this year – Earth Day, Fargo, Chisago (trying to decide whether to do the sprint or half) . . . fun times!
You are incredible and an inspiration. Glad to see things are going great for you, and with such a positive attitude. It’s good to have goals, and looks like this spring will be busy training months. No limits for you.
Lost! Good show but it started to slip after season 3. Still, you have to finish it…just one of those things.
Sounds like you are doing incredibly well – you are a strong and beautiful person!
I bet it’s nice to be able to start putting your focus and energy into fun stuff again
Enjoy the goofing off! I am on the last season of lost on my bike trainer. I love it – even though I have no idea what is going on.
You rock!!!
So glad to hear things are going well.
You are amazing!
I am so happy to read that everything is going well and that you’re feeling good. You are such an inspiration!
